Associate Degree in Nursing (NUR)
OCC FCC LTC WVC

IECC-Olney Central College Associate Degree Nursing program is administered at all 4 college sites within the District. All students who attend the nursing program at these sites fall under the ACEN Accreditation umbrella.

Program Overview
The Associate Degree Nursing program prepares individuals to write the National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX-RN) for licensure as a registered nurse. Registered nurses provide care to people of all ages and in a variety of health care settings such as hospitals, long-term care facilities, physicians' offices, home care agencies, and community settings. The program is approved by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, website: www.idfpr.com, and accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), which is located at 3343 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 850, Atlanta, GA 30326; 404/975‐5000, website: www.acenursing.org.

Persons interested in applying to the Nursing Program may contact the Allied Health Advisor at one of the four colleges. All prospective students are required to attend an advisement meeting to complete the application process.

Note: Prerequisite for LSC 2110, LSC 2111 or LSC 2112 is LSC 1101 (General Biology) or equivalent or consent of instructor.

General education courses must be completed before or during the semester they are scheduled. Students who do not complete the general education courses early or as scheduled will not be allowed to enroll in the next nursing course.

Nursing students must pass all courses in the program with at least a C and maintain a minimum term GPA of 2.0 to proceed through the program.

Practical Nurse Exit Option
The IECC/OCC nursing program supports the concept of articulation and educational mobility. Students have the educational mobility option of exiting after the first year at the practical nurse (PN) level or continuing into the second year to complete studies to become a registered nurse (RN). The practical nurse exit is approved by Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. This exit is separate from the Associate Degree Program's ACEN accreditation and not covered under the programmatic umbrella.

Professional Licensure Information
This program of study prepares students to seek a professional licensure or certification in the state of Illinois and may not meet minimum requirements for other states. See the Professional Licensure Disclosure at www.iecc.edu/licensuredisclosure.
