Course topics include law, emergency vehicle-related accidents, personnel selection and effective driver training programs, vehicle dynamics, vehicle inspections and maintenance, and related administrative procedures. The course allows students to gain knowledge in department communications and building construction. Students will gain skills in the areas of self-contained breathing apparatus, ladders, ropes and knots. This course is designed in combination with EPF 1209 and EPF 1203 to prepare individuals for the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal (OSFM) Level: Basic Operations Firefighter certification. Students planning to submit an examination request for the Basic Operations Firefighter Module A exam will be required to meet the OSFM requirements.
