THM 1212 - Massage Therapy Anatomy/Physiology II

This course continues to introduce the massage therapy student to the structure and function of the systems of the human body. These systems include: nervous, endocrine, cardiovascular, lymphatic, respiratory and digestive. Emphasis continues on the relationship of the function and structure of these systems as they relate to application of therapeutic massage and bodywork. Special focus is placed on peripheral nerves and cranial nerves most relevant to the massage therapist. Effects of massage on the autonomic nervous system and its impact on cardiovascular, lymphatic and digestive functions will be specifically addressed. PREREQUISITES: THM 1201 Intro to Massage Therapy and HEA 1225 Intro to Medical Terminology or equivalent or consent of instructor.
