This course prepares the student to recognize and respond to cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest and foreign-body airway obstruction. The course will enable the student to recognize and respond to heart attack and stroke in adults and breathing difficulties in children utilizing cardiopulmonary resuscitation where appropriate. Training regarding the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) and two-rescuer CPR will also be introduced.
