This course was designed to provide hazardous awareness training in regards to notification procedures, local emergency response plans, hazardous material identification classes and their hazards. Additional topics covered include identifying facility and transportation hazardous material markings, MSDS data sheets, use of the North American Emergency Response Guidebook as well as scene safety and the use of personal protective equipment. This course was designed to prepare individuals for the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal (OSFM) Hazardous Materials First Responder-Awareness Certification Exam. Students planning to submit an examination request will be required to meet Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal (OSFM) eligibility requirements.
