Frontier Community College, Lincoln Trail College and Olney Central College will participate in “The Great Central U.S. ShakeOut”, a multi-state earthquake drill on February 7, 2013.
Frontier Community College is preparing for the ShakeOut drill by developing flyers for faculty and students describing the correct way to cover during an earthquake. Faculty has also been asked to complete a short survey of how well the drill went and to report any hazards in their classrooms that needs to be addressed. All classes that are in session at 10:15 a.m on February 7 will participate in the drill.
Lincoln Trail College will be testing their paging system to make students, staff and faculty aware of the earthquake drill. Weather permitting; all will exit the building to the designated meeting place for each building. Instructions have been sent to faculty regarding Drop, Cover and Hold On.
Olney Central College has sent out an agenda for the day to staff and faculty that covers the drill and the follow up instructions for the earthquake. Drop to the ground. Take Cover by getting under a sturdy desk or table, and Hold On to it until the shaking stops. Operations and Maintenance personnel will be outlining what procedures to be followed considering locating and shutting off utilities, surveying damage, and assisting with evacuations if necessary.
