If you are already certified and your current certificate is about to expire, the Illinois Department of Public Health requires that a test or a five-hour refresher course be taken before a certificate can be renewed. This refresher course will refresh your knowledge of food-borne illness by identifying and applying correct procedures for cleaning and sanitizing.  The Illinois code related to food service establishments will also be reviewed.
