||Agkistrodon contortrix, the Copperhead, averages about 2 to 3 feet in length. Its range includes the southern parts of New Hampshire and New Jersey south to the northern part of Florida and west to Texas and north to Missouri and the southern part of Illinois. The Copperhead prefers wooded hillsides especially those with rock outcrops. Agkistrodon is a venomous snake but is not a deadly species. It is active during the day or night and eats small mammals, birds, frogs, and some insects The earliest date of birth is July 30th, and the lastest date is September 10th.
