This is a lecture and laboratory course for non-majors that emphasizes inquiry through selected topics in plant biology. The course includes surveys of the algae, fungi, non-vascular plants and vascular plants based on evolution, morphology, histology, physiology, taxonomy and biological development. Societal components between plants and humans include: economics, environmental, medical, agricultural, and food industries. There is no college prerequisite but students should have a basic understanding of biology or have completed high school biology. |
